Responsibilities
- Perform startups, certifications, preventative maintenance, and scheduled maintenance on UPS systems and battery systems.
- Lead UPS replacements and new installations, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
- Diagnose and repair UPS systems, including routine and emergency service, with minimal disruption to clients.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, start up, and commission various types of UPS systems independently.
- Supervise and guide teams of technicians with varying skill levels on job sites.
- Collaborate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, partners, and clients to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Operate equipment such as UPS systems, battery systems, PDUs, ATS, and AC/DC rectifiers safely and efficiently.
- Communicate clearly with co-workers, sales teams, engineering partners, management, and clients.
- Assess manpower requirements and estimate materials needed for maintenance and installation projects.
- Monitor crew productivity and safety, taking action when necessary to maintain a safe and effective work environment.
- Foster a positive team environment and mentor junior technicians by sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of experience servicing UPS systems.
- Electrical and mechanical experience with UPS systems, DC systems, and familiarity with major OEMs (e.g., Eaton, Mitsubishi, Schneider, APC, GE, Emerson).
- Knowledge of AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry, or willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters, amp clamps, phase rotation meters, power quality analyzers, IR cameras, and oscilloscopes.
- Understanding of isolation devices, arc-flash PPE, and safety protocols.
- Competency in series, parallel, and series-parallel connections.
- Ability to interpret torque values and perform visual inspections of installations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to lead teams and mentor less experienced technicians.
- US Citizenship required.
- Preferred: OSHA 30-hour certification, NFPA-70E Safety Training, Thermography Level 2 or higher.
