Responsibilities
- Develop strength and durability performance criteria for frame, body, and chassis systems including suspension, axles, and bushings
- Perform analytical prediction using hand calculations, design reviews, and CAE tools (FEA, MBD, simulation methods)
- Support performance evaluation including vehicle load measurements and bench testing (static & fatigue testing)
- Organize engineering data, perform fatigue life estimations, execute failure mode analysis, and report performance trends
- Collaborate with technicians and cross-functional teams to achieve program performance targets on time
- Troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions to meet durability objectives based on development timelines
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of engineering experience (professional, co-op/internship, or SAE leadership experience qualifies)
- Completed coursework in:
- Strength of materials
- Static and fatigue failure theories
- Stress/strain/deflection
- Structures and joining
- Vibrations
- System dynamics
- Experience in engineering testing (planning, measurement, statistical analysis, reporting)
- Experience using commercial FEA pre-/post-processors and solvers
