Position Overview
Our client is seeking a talented Design Engineer to support automotive design and development initiatives. This role will focus on delivering high-quality design outputs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvement in engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop design deliverables including 3D models, 2D drawings, technical reports, and instruction sheets
- Participate in design reviews and report key performance metrics
- Develop countermeasures to meet targets for cost, mass, and durability
- Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams
- Manage supplier deliverables to ensure quality and on-time execution aligned with program milestones
- Drive process improvements to enhance design efficiency and quality
- Benchmark competitive designs to meet cost and customer expectations
- Travel up to 10% and support overtime as needed (approx. 20%)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or higher)
- 4 years of automotive design/development experience
- Strong CAD skills and solid understanding of GD&T
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of conventional, hybrid, and electrified powertrains
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, “can-do” attitude
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- Experience with ICE systems (lubrication, fuel, cooling, intake/exhaust, belt systems, etc.)
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes (castings, thermoplastics, stampings, forgings)
- Experience with Creo, WBDM, and CAE tools (FEA, CFD, GT Power)
- Hands-on experience with engine or powertrain assembly
- Advanced GD&T expertise and manufacturing knowledge
- Familiarity with DRBFM, Quality Management, and Supply Chain principles
- Experience working in multicultural environments and with production engineering
