Position Summary
We are seeking an Application Engineer to support the implementation of internal logistics automation systems across North American manufacturing operations. This role will partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, and IT teams to design, deploy, and optimize automated solutions that improve supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering groups and manufacturing teams to implement internal logistics automation systems.
- Analyze current processes, challenge existing systems, and develop optimized automation solutions to improve efficiency and performance.
- Identify industry-leading automation technologies and align internal strategies with best practices.
- Lead the transition of proof of concepts (PoCs) and statements of work (SOWs) into production environments.
- Support IT requirements and integrate MES/ERP systems with AMR fleet management software.
- Develop requirements traceability matrices linking business needs to DevOps design and implementation efforts.
- Manage Tier 3 escalations related to robotics, PLCs, and industrial automation systems.
- Commission and integrate AMR systems at manufacturing facilities across North America.
- Create system documentation and user manuals, including application guides and use cases.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- 4 years of IT/IS systems experience.
- 2 years of experience with internal logistics equipment, automation, or similar technologies.
- Experience with at least two of the following:
- PLC platforms (Allen Bradley, Toyopuc, Omron, Mitsubishi)
- AMR technologies (MiR, Autoguide, Omron, JBT, Creform, OTTO, AIUT/Aformic, Bastian Solutions)
- Experience with Linux, Docker, and Bash.
- Strong understanding of OSI model and TCP/IP protocols.
- Ability to communicate network topology and server architecture concepts to various audiences.
- Proficiency with Linux and networking stack.
- Experience handling escalations and troubleshooting complex systems.
- DevOps experience.
- Server-side development experience (Node.js or Python), including APIs and supporting services.
- Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) or robotics platforms.
- 5 years of project management experience.
