Reinhardt University invites applications for a Lab Coordinator/Instructor. This is a 9-month contracted non-tenure track faculty position that will start in August, 2026. Primary duties include teaching up to 15 contact hours per year, coordinating and ordering for science labs, supervising work study students, and advising.
General Summary:
The College of Humanities, Sciences, and Technology at Reinhardt University invites applications for a Lab Coordinator/Instructor position to work on the main campus in support of the natural science areas. Appointment will begin August 2026.
This person will split their time between coordinating labs for Biology, Environmental Sciences, and Chemistry and the teaching and advising of undergraduate students. Teaching can be in any of these areas, depending on qualifications. These programs support the mission of the University, which is to educate the whole person with challenge and care.
We seek a person with knowledge and teaching experience in either Biology, Environmental Sciences, or Chemistry. The ideal candidate will likely teach a variety of lower-level introductory courses.
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Coordinator will be responsible for managing multiple laboratory spaces, overseeing operations for lab courses, training work study students, and supervising undergraduate teaching assistants. The Coordinator will work closely with faculty to ensure that supplies are ordered and stocked in labs. The coordinator will oversee the maintenance of labs and equipment and will be responsible for various aspects of lab safety, including chemical storage and disposal. As supervisor of work study students, the Coordinator will facilitate weekly scheduling of these students to assist with lab set up and clean up as well as approve their hours.
As Instructor, he or she will teach up to 15 contact hours per year (undergraduate) on the main campus. Contact hours may come from either lecture or laboratory courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain laboratory facilities and may supervise laboratory assistants
- Purchase laboratory supplies and equipment
- Ensure supplies, reagents, and solutions are available as required for lab sessions
- Serve as Laboratory Compliance Officer, ensuring all chemicals are appropriately labeled, inventory and storage location reports are updated, and current Safety Data Sheets are available.
- Manage hazardous waste collection and disposal for assigned areas in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements
- Assist in development and implementation of safety policies and procedures
- Facilitate installation and maintenance of equipment including preventative maintenance, service contracts, and repairs in compliance with federal regulations
- Communicate regularly with faculty and department leadership
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
- Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
- Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
- Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
Applicants should possess:
- Strong skills for teaching at the introductory level
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- A strong working knowledge of lab and chemical safety
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s (M.S.) in biology, environmental science, or chemistry from a regionally accredited program with 18 graduate credits in one of these disciplines.
- Collegiate teaching experience with documentation of teaching success: Applicants should demonstrate a history of teaching introductory and upper-level coursework and should highlight relevant experiences.
- A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts environment. Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
