The Environmental Services Team Member assumes the responsibility of performing a variety of cleaning, custodial, and service duties in order to maintain sanitary and orderly conditions throughout the hospital. Overview Of Responsibilities
- Selects hospital-approved cleaning materials and supplies according to procedures; stocks cleaning cart and transports it to work area.
- Operates various types of equipment, both manual and electrical, such as vacuum buffer, extractor, scrubbers, etc.
- Maintains equipment by keeping it clean and notifies supervisor of equipment needing repair.
- Arranges furniture for meetings, workshops, and community events.
- Notifies Environmental Service office of the need for replacing soiled or damaged furnishings such as window treatments, privacy curtains, flooring, etc.
- Cleans and dusts furniture, washes walls, woodwork, and windows.
- Vacuums carpet areas, wet/dry mops, scrubs, or finishes floors using appropriate hospital-approved products.
- Performs hot water carpet extractions with hospital-approved products.
- Replenishes supplies of soap, alcohol sanitizer, toilet paper, paper towels, and linen.
- Collects trash and waste, including human tissue and body organs, and transports to disposal area.
- Reports all patient complaints or concerns to supervisors.
- Contributes to the teaching of personnel orienting to the department in cooperation with other health team members.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of and adherence to organizational and departmental policies.
