The Children and Youth Division of Rehabilitation Support Services, Inc. is seeking a full-time Clinician to support the expansion of its Home-Based Crisis Intervention (HBCI) program in Schoharie County. This program serves children and youth (ages 6 up to 20 years 11 months of age) who are at risk for psychiatric hospitalizations. Clinicians will use Cognitive Behavioral interventions and other evidence-based supports to teach coping skills to the youth and the family. All services will be delivered in the home and community. Candidates must show understanding of the needs for youth with SED and can assess risk during crisis situations and respond quickly. Clinicians will work with the youth/family to create safety plans tailored to the needs of the youth and the family.
Clinicians will work with SPOA (Single Point of Access) who may refer to the program and when possible, Clinicians will participate in the discharge planning process with the hospital.
Clinicians work with the youth for a period of 4-6 weeks of intensive support. Clinicians will carry a caseload of 3-4 cases (this may vary depending on the acuity of the youth being served and/or if the funding source makes shifts and requirements to the program).
Coordination of services for after-care support would be a priority for the youth/ family.
Each youth must have a minimum of 3 contacts each week. More can occur if/when necessary to keep the youth/family safe.
The HBCI program will provide 24/7 support to youth who are experiencing a crisis. On-call responsibilities required in a rotational assignment.
Qualifications for this Position:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Creative Arts Therapy is preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling or Human Services Field with 2-3 years of experience working with this population will be considered.
- Credentialed New York State Licensed Mental Health providers would be a plus.
- Bi-lingual Spanish candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates must have the ability to work with a diverse population. Must have strong communication skills. Knowledge of trauma-informed care service delivery will be a plus.
Other Requirements:
- Valid/Active NYS driver's license
- Successful completion of a background check including Justice Center and New York State Office of Children and Families Statewide Central Register Database clearance
