Rego Park Counseling is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist with extensive knowledge of OASAS and OMH regulations to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in behavioral health administration, insurance verification, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage front desk operations in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
- Answer multi-line phones, schedule appointments, and coordinate patient transportation
- Register patients, check them in/out, and maintain accurate records
- Verify insurance coverage, copays, obtain authorizations, and ensure compliance with payer requirements
- Stay updated on OASAS and OMH rules and regulations
- Knowledgable with providing medical records for audits
- Ensure smooth daily office operations and support clinical staff
- Uphold professional and welcoming interactions with patients and staff
- Responsible and detail oriented
- Team player
- Knowledge with epaces, availity, insurance portals, and being able to manage billing denials.
Qualifications:
- Experience in OASAS and OMH-regulated facilities is REQUIRED
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance, billing, and authorization processes
- Highly responsible, punctual, and reliable
- Professional demeanor with excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a busy behavioral health environment
- Prior experience in medical or behavioral health office administration
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., 10e11, eClinicalWorks, or similar)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) a plus
- Knowledge of commercial/ private and Medicaid/Medicare guidelines
