Job Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and medication lists
- Assist providers with clinical procedures and patient care
- Demonstrate and troubleshoot CPAP/BiPAP equipment as needed
- Perform routine clinical tasks in accordance with practice protocols and state regulations
- Coordinate home sleep testing setup and patient instructions
- Process prescription refills and durable medical equipment (DME) orders
- Schedule patients for examination and sleep-related consultations
- Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries professionally
- Take estimated payments before scheduling the study
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Verify patient insurance benefits and authorization requirements prior to scheduled services
- Track authorization numbers and validity dates
- Gather medical documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Follow up with insurance for approvals, denials, or additional information
- Communicate authorization outcomes so patients can be scheduled
- Coordinate referrals and communicate with primary care providers and specialists
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with insurance, prior authorizations (Medicare and commercial plans), preferred
- Knowledge of EMR – eClinicalWorks, preferred
- Phlebotomy experience, preferred
- Willingness to be cross trained in multiple clinical and administrative functions
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
