Title: Educational Technician III – Numeracy/Literacy
Position: Educational Technician III
Location: Alfred Elementary
Reports To: Building Principal, Curriculum Director/Instructional Consultants
Qualifications:
Satisfactory completion of two years of college/university or 90 college credit hours
Holds or is eligible for Maine State Authorization as an Educational Technician III
Evidence of successful experience working with children
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development
Job Goal:
To assist teachers in achieving academic, functional, and behavioral objectives for students.
Performance Responsibilities:
Work with individual students and/or small groups to reinforce previously taught skills in literacy and numeracy, under the direction of the classroom teacher or content specialist
Plan and support new learning opportunities for students, as appropriate to the Educational Technician III role
Maintain classroom expectations and support positive student behavior
Assist with instructional and classroom activities, including practice exercises and small group work
Support students in school-related activities outside the classroom (e.g., field trips)
Perform non-instructional duties as assigned
Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student learning
Professional Responsibilities:
Maintain knowledge of student goals, progress, and accommodations
Attend meetings, trainings, and consultations as directed
Document and participate in required professional development
Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA
Adhere to all School Board policies and procedures
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by administration
Physical Demands:
The employee must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including but not limited to:
Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods
Climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling
Lifting 25–75 pounds, depending on student needs

Terms of Employment:
Salary, work year, and working conditions will be established by the RSU 57 School Board.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy.
