JOB DESCRIPTION
BUS DRIVER
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid school bus license with appropriate endorsements
Must have on-going First-aid CPR training
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to make sound judgments
Must pass yearly DOT physical examination
Must pass alcohol and drug tests
Adequate body strength and full range of arms and legs to operate all mechanical equipment
Such additional health and age requirements as the School Committee may require
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantages from the district's curriculum and extracurricular program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obeys all traffic laws.
Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
Adheres to all state laws and School Board policies governing the operation of school
buses.
- Does pre-trip inspections each day and gives completed forms to the Trip/Route
Coordinator at the end of each week.
Enforces all school bus rules and regulations.
Transports only authorized students.
Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
Reports discipline problems to the school office and fills out appropriate incident reports.
Adheres to assigned schedule and route.
Discharges students only at appropriate authorized stops.
Transports students to and from extracurricular activities as designated by the Trip/Route Coordinator
Exercises responsible leadership when on school trips.
Maintains a clean bus inside and outside.
Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness
Attends workshops and training pertaining to transportation.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Trip/Route Coordinator or Director of Operations.

Maintains confidentiality about all aspects of student performance and written and oral records.
Demonstrates a respect for the legal and human rights of students.
Follows health and safety procedures established by the district.
Arrives and departs punctually, notifying appropriate personnel about absences and coverage.
Demonstrates dependability, integrity, and other ethical standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to read, reason, and understand policies and procedures and related information and to follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
Physical ability to perform all necessary upper and lower body movements
Ability to do reaching, lifting, eye-hand coordination, sitting and stooping.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As specified by contract
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with this document and assessment of annual goals by the Director of Operations.
