Position Summary
Overseeing clinical operations within a 120-bed skilled nursing facility. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and effective supervision of approximately 80 nursing staff. The DNS plays a key leadership role in staff development, clinical excellence, and maintaining a positive, resident-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily clinical operations and overall management of nursing services
- Supervise, support, and provide leadership to a team of approximately 80 nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS guidelines
- Monitor and maintain quality of care standards and implement performance improvement initiatives
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing staff development
- Conduct routine audits, chart reviews, and clinical rounds to ensure quality and compliance
- Assist in scheduling and staffing to ensure appropriate coverage and efficiency
- Investigate incidents, complaints, and concerns, and implement corrective actions as needed
- Support infection control, risk management, and safety programs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, resident-centered care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in CT
- Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience required
- Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, survey process, and long-term care compliance
- Proven ability to manage staff, drive clinical outcomes, and improve quality measures
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a leadership role within a 100 bed facility
- Background in infection control, QAPI, or staff education
- BSN or advanced degree preferred
