Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our interdisciplinary care team. In this role, you will assess patients’ respiratory status, develop and administer therapeutic interventions, manage ventilator and noninvasive support, monitor outcomes, and educate patients and staff. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate closely with nursing, medical, and rehabilitation staff.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct respiratory assessments, including measurement of lung volumes, ABGs, spirometry, and other pulmonary function tests
Develop individualized respiratory care plans in consultation with physicians and medical team
Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, airway suctioning, and mechanical ventilation support
Monitor and evaluate patient response to therapy; adjust care plans as needed
Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment (ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, nebulizers, etc.)
Respond to respiratory emergencies (e.g. acute respiratory distress) and assist in critical care interventions
Document all respiratory care interventions, patient responses, and progress in electronic health records
Provide education to patients, families, and staff on respiratory disease management, use of home ventilators, inhaler techniques, and breathing exercises
Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences, rounds, and discharge planning
Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and infection control guidelines
Assist with staff training, competency assessments, and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements & Qualifications
Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent
Current state license / registration to practice as a Respiratory Therapist
Credentialing such as CRT, RRT, or equivalent as required by state or facility
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS / PALS preferred
Minimum 1-2 years of respiratory therapy experience in an acute care, long-term care, or rehabilitation setting (experience with ventilator care preferred)
Proficiency with mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, pulmonary diagnostics, and respiratory equipment
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to function under pressure, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing clinical demands
