Position Overview
Reeder Distributors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Safety and Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen our safety and regulatory programs across fleet and field operations.
This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and company standards while driving a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on, operational leadership role for someone who understands transportation safety, can navigate complex regulatory environments, and is comfortable working directly with drivers, technicians, and leadership.
Location: Fort Worth, TX (On-site)
Key Responsibilities as a Safety and Compliance Manager
Regulatory Compliance and Audits
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and all applicable regulations
- Maintain and audit Driver Qualification (DQ) files and compliance records
- Monitor driver credentials including CDL, medical certificates, and endorsements
- Prepare for and manage DOT audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews
Driver Safety and Risk Management
- Review Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) and identify compliance risks
- Monitor driver violations, incidents, and corrective actions
- Partner with recruiting and operations to ensure compliant onboarding
- Track safety performance metrics and implement risk reduction strategies
DOT Drug and Alcohol Program
- Administer DOT drug and alcohol testing programs
- Ensure compliance with random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing
- Maintain DOT Clearinghouse compliance and reporting
- Coordinate with third-party testing providers
Safety Systems and Data Management
- Manage safety platforms such as Samsara and similar systems
- Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and driver activity
- Track completion of required safety training
- Analyze safety data and trends to improve performance
Incident Management and Investigations
- Lead investigations into accidents, injuries, and safety incidents
- Determine root cause and implement corrective actions
- Manage workers' compensation reporting and documentation
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with reporting requirements
Training and Safety Culture
- Develop and deliver safety training programs and new hire onboarding
- Lead safety meetings and reinforce safe work practices
- Coach employees and leadership on safety expectations and accountability
- Promote a culture of safety, ownership, and continuous improvement
Field and Facility Safety
- Conduct site inspections across buildings, shops and operational environments
- Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols
- Support overall safety compliance across all divisions
Required Qualifications
- Must have experience in transportation, fuel, logistics, or fleet operations
- Must have hands-on experience managing safety, compliance, audits, and regulatory programs
- Strong working knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations is required
- Experience managing Driver Qualification (DQ) files, MVR reviews, and compliance documentation
- Experience overseeing DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs and Clearinghouse compliance
- Familiarity with safety and telematics platforms such as Samsara or similar systems
- Proven ability to investigate incidents, identify root cause, and implement corrective actions
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of safety and compliance functions
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL or DOT certification
