Applications Analyst – Financial Systems

- Hybrid (3 days a week in office), Midtown Manhattan
RedStream Technology is searching for an application support analyst to focus supporting our client’s internal finance applications including trading and reporting applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner directly with end users to understand functional requirements and deliver effective solutions that support a dynamic metals trading business.
- Configure, update, test, and support financial systems and associated applications throughout the full system lifecycle.
- Design, maintain, and support proprietary reports and analytics for accounting, controllers, physical operations, and trading teams.
- Build and troubleshoot SQL queries, Business Objects reports, and related BI outputs.
- Perform root-cause analysis and resolve system issues in collaboration with business users, analysts, and vendors.
- Document configurations, procedures, and solutions in the internal knowledge base (wiki).
- Work closely with the IS team in a collaborative, shared-work environment that values teamwork over silos.
- Stay current on relevant systems and technologies through training, certifications, and seminars.
- Occasionally travel internationally as required (<5–10%).
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a corporate environment.
- Hands-on experience with mid-to-large-scale ERP or financial systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, etc.).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with Business Objects or comparable BI/reporting tools.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros).
- Familiarity with helpdesk, issue tracking, and project management tools (e.g., Jira).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business writing skills with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in distributed teams across US and Europe.
- Strong stakeholder management skills (accounting, commercial, vendors).
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate issues or ask for guidance.
Preferred / Advantageous Experience
- Experience with UNIT4/Coda.
- Exposure to Commodity Trading & Risk Management (CTRM) systems.
- VB/VBA, Power BI, or experience working with web services.
- Advanced Excel automation experience. Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
