Redstone Commodity Search are working with a diversified commodities and industrial group who are seeking to hire a Strategy Analyst to join their US team. The successful candidate will rotate across several live priority projects at once, spanning commodity market research, M&A compliance, international office stand-ups, and internal process build-out, working directly alongside senior trade leadership and portfolio company founders from day one.
Key Responsibilities / Tasks
- Produce commodity market studies covering supply and demand fundamentals, pricing trends, and competitive landscape across a broad range of markets
- Conduct diligence studies on potential acquisitions and new ventures, including financial modelling, primary research, and unit economics analysis
- Build out plans for entering new geographical markets and expanding commercially, spanning new customer demographics, product sectors, and offtake structures
- Design scalable internal frameworks including modelling pricing and return, investment review, and KPI dashboards, while supporting portfolio businesses on go-to-market strategy, capital raising, and stakeholder engagement
- Role reports to the VP of Strategy
Key Qualifications / Experience
- MBA from a leading programme, and/or 2-4 years’ experience in investment banking, management consulting, equity/credit research, corporate development, or corporate strategy
- A genuine grounding in commodity markets, whether through transaction experience, academic focus, or strong personal interest in metals, energy, or agricultural markets as well as familiarity with DOD, DFC, EXIM, and DPA title III preferable
- Strong analytical toolkit spanning financial modelling, market sizing, and primary research, paired with the drive to manage ambiguity and multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Comfortable operating across varied settings, encompassing things like boardroom model reviews, site visits with technical teams, and working sessions with a venture founder whilst communicating clearly and directly throughout – additional Chinese, Vitenamese, and/or Japanese language skills desirable
- Role is ideally to be located in Buffalo, NY, but there are some other locations that can be considered
