Position Overview
The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the overall management and administration of the organization’s employee benefits programs. This role serves as the central point of ownership for benefits operations, employee support, vendor coordination, and regulatory compliance. The Benefits Administrator ensures accurate program administration, provides exceptional employee service, and maintains compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans
- Oversee benefit enrollments, qualifying life event changes, terminations, and annual open enrollment processes
- Maintain accurate benefits data within the HRIS and ensure timely reconciliation of carrier invoices
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, resolving issues in a timely and professional manner
- Partner with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to ensure effective program administration
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations including ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ERISA, and HIPAA
- Coordinate and administer leave of absence and disability programs
- Support payroll processes related to benefit deductions, audits, and reporting
- Lead benefits orientations and develop clear, effective employee communications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 3 years of experience in benefits administration or related HR role
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs and applicable regulations
- Experience with HRIS systems and payroll integration
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- High level of confidentiality and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Reliable internet connection and dedicated workspace required
