Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Service Writer to join our Auto Care Center team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, accurately documenting vehicle issues, recommending services, and coordinating repairs with our skilled technicians. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems and excellent communication skills to ensure a seamless service experience for clients. Experience in dealership settings, auto service management, and automotive diagnostics is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, establishing rapport and understanding their vehicle concerns
- Write detailed service descriptions based on customer input and technician assessments
- Provide accurate auto estimates for repairs and maintenance services, including oil changes, brake repair, transmissions, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, alignment, air brake systems, and auto body repair
- Upsell additional services when appropriate to enhance vehicle performance and safety
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of services
- Handle cash transactions and process payments accurately
- Maintain detailed records of service orders and customer interactions
- Educate customers on vehicle maintenance needs and recommended services to promote ongoing customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Stay informed about the latest automotive repair techniques and industry standards
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or auto service management background
- Strong automotive diagnostics knowledge with mechanical understanding of vehicle systems such as transmissions, oil changes, suspensions, brakes, tires, diesel engines, shocks & struts, alignments, and air brakes
- Experience in auto estimating and service writing with familiarity in automotive repair procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
- Ability to upsell services effectively while maintaining integrity and customer trust
- Knowledge of automobile sales processes is a plus
- Proficiency in cash handling and point-of-sale systems
- Mechanical knowledge that supports collaboration with technicians and understanding of mechanic experience or service technician roles
