Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automotive Service Writer to join our busy dealership team. Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs.
- Accurately document vehicle issues, maintenance requests, and service history in the dealership management system.
- Prepare detailed auto estimates for repairs such as oil changes, brake repairs, transmission work, suspension, tire services, alignments, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brake systems, auto body repairs, and other automotive diagnostics.
- Communicate repair recommendations clearly to customers, explaining necessary services and available options to facilitate informed decisions.
- Coordinate with technicians and service managers to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of work.
- Upsell additional services or maintenance based on vehicle condition assessments while maintaining transparency and integrity.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments securely.
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns promptly.
- Maintain thorough records of all service interactions, estimates, work orders, and customer communications for accountability and future reference.
- Stay updated on the latest automotive repair techniques, parts availability, and dealership promotions to enhance service quality.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience with a strong understanding of automotive service management processes.
- Extensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, transmissions, oil changes, brake systems, alignments, suspension components, tire services, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brakes, and auto body repair.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
- Skilled in auto estimating software and sales techniques to upsell services effectively while maintaining customer trust.
- Experience in auto service writing with a focus on accuracy in documentation and invoicing.
- Mechanical background or mechanic experience is highly desirable for better understanding of vehicle issues.
- Ability to handle cash transactions responsibly with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of automotive repair standards including tire service procedures and alignment techniques is a plus.
