Job Summary
Seeking a skilled Fire Systems Technician to install, service, troubleshoot, program, and maintain fire alarm, fire suppression, and low-voltage security systems at customer locations. The ideal candidate has at least two years of relevant hands-on experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and knowledge of fire and electrical codes.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, program, and troubleshoot fire alarm, suppression, access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and emergency communication systems.
- Install low-voltage cabling, connect components, test systems, and resolve technical issues.
- Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, installation plans, and as-built documentation.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.
- Communicate professionally with customers and project teams while maintaining safe work practices.
- Travel to customer sites and participate in overtime, rotating on-call schedules, and occasional overnight travel.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience with fire alarms, fire protection, electrical systems, or low-voltage technology preferred.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems, electrical codes, and system installation and troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and use hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and ability to pass background and drug screenings.
- Ability to lift an 80-pound extension ladder, work at heights of 15–25 feet, and work on-site in Mechanicville, NY.
- Willingness to work overtime, participate in on-call rotations, and travel overnight as needed.
Preferred: NICET certification in fire alarm systems or a related fire protection discipline.
Pay: $31.29 - $40.69 per hour
