Financial Accountant – Financial Services
Are you an accountant who enjoys solving problems, digging into discrepancies, and making sure everything ties out?
We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join a growing financial services firm. This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid accounting foundation who wants to expand their experience into financial reporting, regulatory compliance, tax, investments, and insurance accounting.
Insurance experience is a plus, but not required. If you have strong general accounting experience and enjoy learning new areas, we’d love to hear from you!
What You’ll Do
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and support month-end and quarter-end close
• Prepare premium tax and other state and municipal tax filings
• Assist with statutory and regulatory filings
• Reconcile taxes, fees, assessments, and other GL accounts
• Review financial reports and research discrepancies
• Assist with quarterly and annual financial statement preparation
• Support investment and custodian bank reporting
• Maintain regulatory and tax filing calendars and help ensure deadlines are met
• Work with external tax advisors, auditors, banks, and other business partners
• Assist with audits, reporting, financial analysis, and special projects
What We’re Looking For
• 4 years of accounting or financial analysis experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organization
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Someone who is curious, dependable, and willing to learn
Experience That’s a Plus — Not a Requirement
Experience in any of the following would be helpful:
• Financial services
• Property & Casualty insurance
• Statutory accounting or NAIC reporting
• Premium tax or multi-state tax filings
• Regulatory compliance/reporting
• Investment or custodian bank reporting
• Month-end or quarter-end close
