A well-established CPA firm in Northern New Jersey is seeking a hands-on Controller with strong construction accounting experience for a unique blended role.
The position will primarily provide fractional Controller and accounting services to the firm's construction and closely held business clients, while also serving as the internal Controller for the CPA firm itself.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide fractional Controller/accounting support to construction clients.
- Manage financial reporting, month-end close, cash flow, budgeting, job costing, WIP and related construction accounting.
- Work directly with business owners to improve financial reporting and accounting processes.
- Utilize the firm's available capacity/time-and-billing structure to support multiple client engagements.
- Serve as the internal Controller for the CPA firm, overseeing its books, reporting, cash flow and financial operations.
- Provide general oversight of internal office operations and help take administrative/operational responsibilities off the Managing Partner.
- Participate in insurance, vendor and other financial/operational decisions affecting the firm.
Ideal Background
- Strong construction accounting/Controller experience.
- Experience with job costing, WIP and project-based accounting.
- Hands-on accounting and financial reporting capabilities.
- Comfortable working with multiple companies/clients simultaneously.
- Experience working directly with owners and senior management.
- CPA firm or outsourced/fractional accounting experience is a plus, but not required.
