The Opportunity
A well-established, highly regarded full-service law firm is seeking an experienced Real Estate Attorney to join its growing Real Estate Practice in Uniondale, New York.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with significant New York residential real estate transactional experience who enjoys independently managing matters, working directly with clients, and handling transactions from contract through closing.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the New York residential real estate market, is comfortable managing a high-volume transactional practice, and can provide responsive, practical counsel to buyers, sellers, lenders, and other parties involved in real estate transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage residential real estate transactions from contract through closing
- Represent clients in purchases, sales, refinances, transfers, and other residential transactions
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts of sale, riders, amendments, and related agreements
- Review title reports, surveys, lien searches, and other due diligence materials
- Identify and resolve title defects and other issues impacting transactions
- Coordinate throughout the transaction with clients, lenders, mortgage professionals, brokers, title companies, managing agents, and opposing counsel
- Prepare and review deeds, transfer documents, closing statements, loan documents, and other closing materials
- Conduct and attend residential real estate closings
- Advise clients regarding title, financing, transactional risk, closing requirements, and deal-related issues
- Manage multiple active transactions and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and client responsiveness
- Develop and maintain strong client and referral relationships
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active admission to the New York Bar
- 6 years of residential real estate transactional experience
- Significant experience handling New York residential purchases, sales, and closings
- Ability to independently manage transactions from initial contract through closing and post-closing matters
- Strong knowledge of New York residential real estate law and customary transactional practices
- Experience reviewing and resolving title issues
- Familiarity with lender requirements and residential financing documentation
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational, communication, and client-management skills
- Ability to successfully manage a high-volume transactional workload
