What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Project Manager position at recruitAbility?
Project Project Manager – Construction (Turnkey / Travel-Based)
Remote (U.S.) | Significant Travel Required
I'll keep this direct.
The travel requirement will eliminate a lot of people before anything else.
If frequent travel doesn't fit your life today, this probably isn't the right role.
If it does, keep reading...
This isn't a traditional GC Project Manager position.
You're not responsible for every trade on a multi-year ground-up project.
You're responsible for making sure your scope gets delivered... on schedule, on budget, and with customers who still want to work with you when the project is over.
We're partnered with an organization that designs, manufactures, and installs specialized construction systems inside active facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The work is fast-moving.
The projects are visible.
And when something goes wrong, people look to the Project Manager to help solve it.
What You'll Own
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously from kickoff through closeout
• Coordinate customers, General Contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams
• Own project schedules, change orders, documentation, and communication
• Travel to job sites to keep projects moving and resolve issues before they become problems
• Drive execution across multiple stakeholders with competing priorities
• Be accountable for outcomes, not activities
What Makes Someone Successful
• Construction Project Management experience
• Experience working for a subcontractor, specialty contractor, mechanical contractor, refrigeration contractor, commercial interiors group, or similar environment
• Ability to manage schedules and subcontractors when conditions aren't perfect
• Strong communication skills with customers, field teams, and internal stakeholders
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and problems need immediate attention
• Willingness to travel consistently throughout the year
Backgrounds That Tend To Translate Well
• Mechanical construction
• Refrigeration construction
• Commercial interiors
• Specialty construction scopes
• Installation-focused project environments
• PMs who enjoy being close to execution rather than managing from a distance
What This Role Is
• Ownership
• Problem solving
• Customer interaction

• Execution
What This Role Is Not
• A low-travel position
• An office-first PM role
• A pure scheduling or coordination role
• A traditional GC Project Manager position overseeing every trade on a project
Compensation
Base: $90K depending on experience
Bonus: 10–15% based on company performance
Travel fully covered
Bottom Line
This role tends to fit Project Managers who enjoy being in the middle of the action... solving problems, coordinating people, and making sure projects actually get delivered.
If that sounds like the work you enjoy most, it's worth a conversation.
Salary : $90,000
