What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supply Chain Project Manager position at Real?
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-level Project Manager with deep expertise in Supply Chain and New Product Introduction (NPI) within the medical device industry. This role will serve as a core team member representing Supply Chain on cross-functional NPI teams, supporting products from initial development through launch, global scale-up, and sustaining operations.
The ideal candidate brings a strong command of supply chain mechanics, risk-based project planning, and global product rollout frameworks. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the ability to challenge assumptions, navigate complex cost structures, and influence stakeholders across remote and onsite teams.
Key Responsibilities
NPI & Supply Chain Leadership
- Serve as the Supply Chain representative on new product core teams.
- Lead end-to-end supply chain project efforts from development through launch, scale-up, and sustaining.
- Apply and articulate frameworks used to bring products from concept to global commercialization.
Project Management
- Own and drive project schedules using risk-based planning techniques.
- Manage all classic project management expectations: schedules, dependencies, risks, issues, communication, and deliverables.
- Present program updates and issues clearly to senior leadership; strong executive communication is essential.
Cost, Capital & Supplier Oversight
- While PMs do not own capital equipment, they must be accountable for:
- Challenging budget estimates
- Understanding capital allocations
- Managing cost structures via external manufacturing (EOM) partners
- Navigate the details behind supplier agreements, cost drivers, and contract manufacturing impacts on total cost of ownership.
Cross-Functional Influence
- Work effectively and assertively with virtual and remote teams.
- Push back when necessary-this role requires someone confident, not passive.
- Influence without authority across engineering, supply chain, operations, quality, and supplier teams.
Required Experience
- Extensive experience leading supply chain-focused projects (seniority driven by depth, not years).
- Strong background in medical devices with understanding of global rollout and regulatory considerations.
- Demonstrated success supporting NPI programs end-to-end.
- Experience with both capital and non-capital equipment; scale varies, but approach should be consistent.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including presenting to senior audiences.
