A venture‑backed med‑tech company is seeking a Sr. Principal (or Principal) Electrical Engineer to lead electrical architecture, design updates, qualification testing, and system modernization for a sophisticated piece of capital equipment addressing a major unmet clinical need. This is a rare opportunity to get some skin in the game with a small, deeply technical R&D team where your work directly impacts patients and the company's trajectory.
Responsibilities:
As the senior-most EE on the program, you will:
- Lead the design, development, and testing of electrical systems for a complex electromechanical capital device used in clinical environments.
- Own schematic design, PCB layout, and circuit analysis for system updates and next‑gen improvements.
- Drive safety & compliance activities, including IEC 60601 testing and documentation.
- Guide system decisions for the next-gen build: OS selection, display technologies, board architecture, user-interface electronics, etc.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams to move the platform from clinical performance → commercial readiness.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for all things EE on a lean, fast-moving R&D team.
- Mentor junior engineers and influence long-term electrical strategy.
Requirements:
- BS in Engineering
- 13-15 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer (or equivalent senior-level mastery).
- Deep experience in analog/digital circuit design, PCB layout (Altium preferred), and system-level electrical engineering.
- Strong familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, firmware fundamentals (C/C ).
- Direct experience with medical device development, capital equipment, or regulated electromechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with IEC 60601 and safety/regulatory testing.
- Ability to work autonomously, solve complex problems, and collaborate in a small, multidisciplinary environment. (Startup-friendly mentality)
