Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Industry-Leading Medical Device OEM
Location: Greater Chicago Area
Compensation: Up to $170k Total Comp Money Purchase Plan
About Us: Join an established medical device OEM in the Greater Chicago Area looking to hire a senior embedded software engineer to serve as technical lead for new product development across a suite of class II medical devices. They are open to candidates from various regulated industries with strong background in RTOS and UI development. The role is hybrid and includes a competitive bonus and money purchase.
Position: Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Develop embedded software for Class II medical devices
- Collaborate closely with electrical and systems engineers to integrate software with microprocessor-based hardware
- Ensure compliance with requirements management and traceability
- Contribute to design verification, validation, & traceability
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers in embedded RTOS & UI development
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 5 years of experience designing and implementing complex embedded software for medical devices
- Proficiency in C, C , and Python
- Demonstrated knowledge of real time operating systems, networking, and serial communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, RS232, RS485)
- Strong experience with UI development
- Knowledge & application of global medical device requirements and UL standards preferred
