We are seeking an experienced, full-time Logistics Coordinator/Dispatcher to work in our Beaumont, TX office. The position is 1st shift from 6:00am - 6:00pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. The order of duties is not reflective of the importance, frequency or difficulty.
- Plan and coordinate daily loads, optimizing routes for cost-efficiency and timeliness.
- Track and maintain records of available drivers and equipment (trucks, trailers, etc.).
- Schedule and dispatch drivers to ensure maximum utilization of fleet capacity.
- Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.
- Track and monitor supplier inventories to manage levels
- Serves as a point of contact for customers, providing status updates on deliveries, and proactively communicating delays or issues.
- Directs activities of drivers by cell phone and other communication equipment.
- Performs other duties as required for the safe and efficient logistical organization of products using Reagent’s truck fleet and common carriers.
- Ensure all activities comply with DOT and company policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in transportation dispatching required.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in logistics and two years' experience; or a High School degree or equivalent with five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and experience with logistics software/systems (TMS/ERP).
SKILLS
- Ability to interact effectively with drivers, internal teams and customers with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to apply troubleshooting, problem solving and customer service.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, managing multiple shipments and drivers simultaneously.
- Ability to organize needed information in a way that allows ease of access when needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
