RCM Energy Services is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Design Engineer for Protection and Controls of High Voltage Substations to join its team.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of engineering and design of protection and control systems with minimal guidance from other experienced engineers and must be both willing and able to provide guidance to other engineers and designers.
The position work arrangement is remote-hybrid, primarily working remotely from home, with regular/periodic work out of the US Engineering Office in Montvale, NJ.
Projects may include travel to client sites as needed to perform job functions at existing facilities such as, but not limited to, acquiring field data necessary to prepare the appropriate design.

Responsibilities
- Provide engineering overview, expertise and directions on the project and perform quality reviews of engineering deliverables such as protection one-lines, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, protection logic, and control schemes.
- Prepare Equipment Technical Specifications, reports, and other documentation related to protection and control systems.
- Plan, monitor and control assigned projects, including coordination with other engineers, designers, drafters and project stakeholders.
- Assist with commissioning and testing of protection and control systems.
- Must have a minimum 2-year (associate’s) technical degree in the electrical field or equivalent.
- 5 ( ) years of experience in Protection and Controls of the High Voltage Substations.
- Comprehensive understanding of key principles of electrical power system protection and controls including metering, communication, and networks.
- Familiarity with IEC 61850, SCADA, DNP3, MODBUS, and RTU protocols.
- Must be computer proficient with Microsoft Office software products.
- Basic knowledge of CADD software (AutoCAD and MicroStation and their related products)
- Must demonstrate ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and apply individual judgment, initiative and decision making.
- The candidate must have a strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with clients, equipment vendors and construction contractors.
- Must have the ability to be flexible and work with competing priorities.
- Working knowledge Cyber security in a high voltage substation.
