What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Product position at Raydar?
About the company
Our client is a Series A AI infrastructure company building the data layer that other AI companies are built on. Their API turns any URL into clean, LLM-ready markdown or structured data in a single call, and developers have made it one of the most starred open source projects in its category. They hit 8 figures of ARR in year one and more than doubled it in year two, with category-defining AI companies as customers. Around 39 people today, backed by $16.2M in funding.
The role
You will own the entire product function with a founder-level mandate. You report to the CEO, work shoulder to shoulder with the founders and engineering, and the explicit goal is to take the founders fully out of day to day product within 18 months. No layers, no committees, no approval chains.
What you will do
- Own product strategy and roadmap, and the hard prioritization calls that come with them
- Turn a fast-moving market and deep developer insight into a clear plan for what gets built next
- Work directly with the founders and engineering to shape where the product goes next
- Build and lead the product function, including a Product Operations Engineer, and set the bar for how product works here
- Stay close to developers and to the product itself, so decisions come from real understanding rather than distance
- Own the outcomes: what ships, whether it lands, and what the team learns
What we are looking for
- 7 years in product, with real time in startup, founding PM, or small-team environments
- You have personally built and shipped AI-native products, hands-on and demonstrable, ideally something we can look at. This is the defining requirement: not AI-adjacent work, and not developer products that happen to use AI
- You have owned product strategy and roadmap for a developer-facing product, and you understand how developers evaluate and adopt tools
- You operate hands-on and close to customers: you write the specs, talk to users, and shape the product directly
- Technical enough to earn the trust of engineering
Bonus points
- Background in developer tools, API-first products, or AI infrastructure with a self-serve developer motion
- You have built a product function from scratch rather than inheriting one
Compensation and benefits
- $250K-$290K base salary
- Meaningful equity, details shared during the process
Location and work model
- Hybrid in San Francisco or the Bay Area, 3 days per week onsite
Salary : $250,000 - $290,000
