Role Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Project Architect to take ownership of project development from concept to completion.
This role involves leading the architectural design, coordination, and documentation for a variety of multi-discipline projects — including civic facilities, educational institutions, public infrastructure, and transportation-related buildings.
You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, and clients to ensure that every phase of design meets both creative and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead assigned architectural or multi-discipline projects and coordinate with internal and external design teams, consultants, and clients.
- Develop and oversee complete project documentation, ensuring compliance with state and local building codes and client standards.
- Review architectural drawings and documents for design accuracy and code completeness before submission.
- Mentor and guide junior design staff, fostering professional growth and accountability.
- Conduct design coordination meetings, document discussions, and ensure follow-ups are actioned promptly.
- Perform construction administration tasks — reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, conducting site visits, and preparing field reports.
- Evaluate change orders, support value engineering, and ensure contractor performance aligns with approved design intent.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager on staffing needs and scheduling, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
Required Skills & Tools
- Strong technical competence in architecture and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and NYS Energy Code Software.
- Deep understanding of building codes, construction documentation, and permitting processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Leadership and mentoring capabilities to guide junior architects and design staff.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture (NAAB Accredited preferred).
- 6 years of experience in architectural design and project documentation.
- Professional Licensure in the State of New York (or eligibility for reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe).
