Purpose
The Assistant Sourcing Manager will be the point person for all day to day department related questions and issues. They will be assisting the Sourcing Manager in department related management of both personnel and operations questions. They will assist the Sourcing Manager in development and implementation of procedures governing material purchase, returns and stocking levels.

- Maintain a select number of suppliers to demand plan, purchase, and review inventory levels for. Act as the point person for the supplier relationship (in conjunction with the Segment Manager)
- Work closely with the buying team to build and strengthen relationships with Segment Managers
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels and lead times in all warehouses for all suppliers. Evaluate where inventory is housed currently and determine if MMOs are needed for improved stocking locations
- Assist in developing and implementing purchasing instructions, policies, and procedures
- Assist in continual improvement of purchasing methods and processes
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and increased efficiency
- Order inventory as needed, arrange and communicate to ensure PO dates are correct for their assigned suppliers and assist others with their daily monitoring and completion of tasks
- Work closely with the transportation team for efficient and cost effective shipping and ensure POs are updated with accurate information for real time understanding of PO status.
- Process inbound purchase orders and direct orders to customers as assigned and / or needed
- Responsible for shipping and billing of direct orders to customers as assigned and / or needed
- Gather initial Safety Data Sheets and Certificate of Analysis for chemicals, linking to each item as needed. Monitoring completion by staff as well as work with the pricing team on creating and/or improving processes to ensure accurate inventory costs and efficient cost updates
- Communicate with vendors on open or late orders Assisting the buying team with escalation for their vendors as needed.
- Create inventory part numbers by coordinating with the Supplier, Segment Manager, and Master Data
- Assist vendors and accounting on cost discrepancies or shortages
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external sources in providing information and direction on inventory and product questions.
- Work closely with Segment Managers on providing Supplier specific feedback to be used in improving any supply chain issues
- Work closely with the Quality department on Supplier related quality claims
- Assist buying team to maintain correct ordering, reviewing of inventory and monitoring purchasing processes.
- Work with sales and customer service on slow moving inventory or new and increased items and usage
- Assist Sourcing manager with inter and intradepartmental communications and mediation
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
