Responsibilities:
- Handle clerical functions including but not limited to: filing, charting, answering phones and resident call bells, take messages and find appropriate staff to meet these needs.
- Prepare and maintain resident files.
- Assist Nurses in making resident appointments with physicians and therapists. Assist with transportation arrangements.
- Performs and records various duties necessary to provide complete care within established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Redirects and provides activities and/or communicates appropriately with the cognitively impaired.
- Communicates patient care information to other health care team members, including changes noted, by verbal report and/or documentation of patient care provided according to policy and procedure guidelines.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to residents’ emotional, social and mental health needs.
- Assists in maintaining patient and unit area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
- Demonstrate responsibility in the use of equipment and supplies.
- Assist CNAs with residents as needed
Skills for Success:
- Has office experience with administrative tasks.
- Strong customer service skills as well as a friendly and helpful disposition.
- Current Certificate to practice as a Certified Nurse Aide with the Virginia State Board of Nursing
- Has the ability to follow a Plan of Care, procedures and instructions and to observe and document care given
- Ability to communicate in a professional, courteous and compassionate manner.
- Possess and maintain current CPR certification
