General Description The Preschool (PK) Special Education Team Chair serves as the compliance, and dispute-resolution leader for early childhood special education processes. This role supports administrators, teachers, related service providers, community agencies, and families by coordinating evaluation teams, facilitating meetings, and ensuring high-quality, student-centered decision-making for young learners. The Team Chair ensures that all Individualized Education Program (IEP) timelines, early childhood evaluations, and service delivery strictly comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and state special education regulations (e.g., Massachusetts 603 CMR 28.00). Key Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Communication Ensure consistent and timely communication with families, evaluators, community agencies, and staff. Chair, facilitate, and monitor Initial Evaluation, Re-evaluation, Annual Review, and Placement Team meetings. Attend district-wide Team Chair and Special Education meetings. Carry out all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Director of Special Education, or Early Childhood Coordinator. Evaluation and Eligibility Process Conduct comprehensive educational evaluations for preschool-aged children referred for special education consideration. Administer and interpret standardized assessment tools, including the Developmental Assessment of Young Children, Second Edition (DAYC-2), and other age-appropriate developmental, cognitive, adaptive, social-emotional, communication, and academic readiness measures. Gather information through observations, parent interviews, teacher reports, record reviews, and curriculum-based assessments to develop a comprehensive understanding of each child's strengths and needs. Prepare written evaluation reports that summarize assessment findings, developmental performance, and educational impact. Present evaluation results to families and Team members in a clear and understandable manner. Collaborate with related service providers and multidisciplinary Team members to determine eligibility for special education services and identify appropriate educational supports and programming. Ensure all evaluations are completed in accordance with federal and state special education regulations and district timelines. IEP Development Lead the development of IEPs Draft and finalize IEPs and related documentation. Ensure goals, accommodations, modifications, and services are aligned with evaluation data and student needs. Full-time position (school year additional days if needed for summer IEP/transition work) Salary and benefits per the Randolph Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement
