Maintenance Craftsman/Electrician
DUTIES: To perform the regular duties of a maintenance craftsman in schools or other facilities
under the control of the school department is required. Under direction, to perform tasks
involving manual labor and requiring the highest degree of skill in the maintenance of school
buildings. Performing duties requiring knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics as
the following.
ELECTRICAL
Working in concert with electrician to assist him in all phases of his work.
Knowledge of the methods and materials and equipment and the safety precautions to be taken in
maintaining the school property. This will require the knowledge and proper techniques in
operating motor vehicles, tractors and trucks under three-ton capacity. Knowledge and proper
techniques in the use of small tools relative to painting, carpentry, plumbing and electrical
fixtures. To have knowledge of the maintenance and operation of low pressure boilers. To be
able to repair and adjust furniture and other building equipment. To have knowledge of accident
and fire precautions in public buildings. Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions,
assigned duties. To maintain and operate pumps and motors, oil burner fans. To install, repair
or maintain fences and bleachers. To install, maintain playground equipment. To maintain and
operate univents, heating, ventilation, sound and lighting systems.
In addition to the above responsible for installation and repairs of
electrical fixtures, outlets, etc., repairs to electrical equipment on oil burners, etc., including
mixers, dishwashers, etc. in school cafeterias.
Salary : $35 - $36
