What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Line Mechanical Engineer (Tektronix) position at Ralliant?
Design and develop electro-mechanical components and assemblies for Tektronix products. Translate customer and system-level requirements into detailed mechanical designs. Create and manage CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using Creo and Windchill. Conduct structural and thermal analysis using FEA and CFD tools; experience with Creo Simulate and Celsius Thermal Solver is a plus. Evaluate and optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance. Collaborate with suppliers and operations teams to ensure seamless transition from design to production. Perform design reviews, prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems. Apply knowledge of sheet metal, plastic, machined parts, and cable/PCB integration in product development. Analyze structural integrity and optimize strength-to-weight ratios in chassis and enclosure designs. Document and communicate design decisions, test results, and engineering changes clearly and effectively. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (BSME or MSME). Minimum 3 years of experience in electro-mechanical product design. Proficiency in CAD modeling and drawing creation (Creo & Windchill preferred). Experience with structural and thermal analysis tools (Creo Simulate, CFD; Celsius Thermal Solver a plus). Strong understanding of DFM principles and production/assembly processes for electronic equipment. Exposure to additive manufacturing techniques. Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and evaluating mechanical designs. Familiarity with sheet metal design, fabrication, tolerancing, and assembly. Ability to visualize and integrate system-level assembly requirements into structural designs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience designing cables, PCBs, plastic, and machined parts. Ability to travel occasionally as needed. Working knowledge of basic statistics and design of experiments (DOE). Ability to analyze/evaluate sheet metal chassis design for structural integrity and strength to weight optimization. Ability to visualize system level assembly requirements and integrate into overall structural design.
