Position: Why We Hire With the further expansion of Rakuten Group's BtoC businesses and our vision for future service scalability, we are planning a large-scale system replacement project, including our core systems. At this pivotal turning point, we are looking for a Senior Manager who can lead our system and service improvements, as well as the strengthening of our development organization, while working in close collaboration with our business stakeholders. Position Details You will serve as a Senior Manager for a development organization of approximately 50 members, including Product Managers and Engineers. About the Organization - Full-cycle development, maintenance, and operations of systems related to specific Rakuten First-Party services - Driving business growth by collaborating with business units on service improvements, new feature development, and data analysis Key Responsibilities 1) Stakeholder Management - Building consensus with business leaders, department heads, and executives - Collaborating and partnering closely with Tech Leads - Facilitating cross-functional cooperation and contributing to development organizations across other Rakuten services - Reporting on critical projects and managing communication during system incidents 2) Organizational Management - Organizational Growth: Mentoring team members, improving development processes, and formulating organizational strategy - Budgeting and cost management - Improving employee engagement - Enhancing organizational productivity - Overseeing overall organizational operations Mandatory Qualifications: Organizational Management Experience - Proven experience in managing development organizations with several dozen members or more - Experience in leading and unifying diverse teams with various professional backgrounds - Proven track record of building consensus with executive leadership and business stakeholders regarding development priorities and resource allocation Product Management Experience - Over 10 years of hands-on experience as a Product Manager (PDM) for large-scale services - Extensive experience leading the full product lifecycle, from roadmap formulation and release to post-launch KPI optimization Communication and Leadership Skills - Ability to thrive in Rakuten’s fast-paced environment and navigate complex stakeholder relationships to drive progress through cross-functional collaboration - Ability to partner closely with Tech Leads to balance business requirements with technical constraints effectively - Strong leadership skills to inspire team members, boost motivation, and maximize overall organizational performance - Proficiency in both Japanese and English for professional communication Desired Qualifications: - Experience in project management - Extensive experience in the development and operation of complex, large-scale systems - Knowledge and experience with core business systems, such as Order Management Systems (OMS) - In-depth knowledge and experience in the EC and BtoC service sectors Other Information: Additional information on Location Rakuten Crimson House (Head office) Additional information on English Qualification TOEIC Score 800 above or possess equivalent abilities #business #producer #productmanager #commerce #RakutenFashion In Japanese, Rakuten stands for ‘optimism.’ It means we believe in the future.
