We are Hiring!
We are working with a multinational pipeline and energy client that is growing and adding a GIS Technician I to their team.
Pay Rate: $28.00 - $30.00/hour on W2
Work Type: Hybrid - Salt Lake City, UT 84104
Duration: 12-month contract (with possible extension)
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify and update records as needed to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with external partners (contractors, utilities, agencies) to facilitate smooth communication and coordination of operations.
- Analyze historical data, utility records, and other related materials to resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in troubleshooting any issues related to GIS systems or document control processes.
- Ensure operational workflows involving GIS and document control are executed efficiently, meeting project deadlines and operational needs.
- Enter proposed pipe into the GIS mapping system.
- Prepare design drawings for main extensions and replacement projects.
- Gather and compile information and data for use in engineering and other tasks.
- Prepare simple right-of-way descriptions using property plats and survey data and prepare right-of-way exhibits.
- Perform simple GIS spatial and data queries and analysis and creates reports from the GIS system.
- Assist with corrections in the GIS mapping system.
- Create new map data through digitization or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.
Top 3 Required Skills
- Entry level GIS experience and basic understanding of GIS concepts.
- Problem resolution, analytical and detail oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and handle changing and emerging priorities with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Highschool diploma or equivalency required.
- GIS certification/degree is preferred.
- Utility or local government organization experience.
- GPS/survey, or CAD design experience.
- 1-3 years of experience with GIS work preferred.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience with ArcGIS Pro
