Duties
- Install photovoltaic solar systems on residential rooftops following blueprint specifications and electrical schematics.
- Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and safety equipment to assemble and secure solar panels, mounting hardware, inverters, and electrical components.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to ensure accurate system installation.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems using voltmeters and diagnostic tools to identify issues during installation or post-installation testing.
- Ensure all work complies with electrical safety procedures, NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEC standards, and NFPA 70E safety protocols.
- Perform electrical wiring for high voltage and low voltage systems while adhering to NFPA standards and local codes.
- Conduct system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting to guarantee optimal performance of photovoltaic systems.
- Maintain detailed documentation of installation processes, inspections, and safety checks throughout each project.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a solar technician or in electrical installation roles involving photovoltaic systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical blueprint reading, schematics, and system wiring diagrams.
- Experience with high voltage and low voltage electrical work in residential or commercial settings.
- Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E safety standards, and electrical diagnostics tools such as voltmeters.
- Construction site experience including roofing work is highly desirable.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders safely and effectively in outdoor environments.
- Familiarity with photovoltaic system installation processes from site assessment to commissioning.
- Previous experience working as a commercial electrician or in onshore renewable energy projects is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for diagnosing electrical issues within complex systems.
