Job Summary:
The Project Control Specialist will support project success through management support of project organization, project administration and support functions, data collection, and software program integration. The project performance and tracking reports developed under this role will be vital in integrating cost control, scheduling, progress tracking, and performance analysis for heavy civil construction projects.
This role ensures accurate monitoring of project baseline data, identifies variances, and provides actionable insights to project managers and project executives, helping maintain schedules, control costs, and achieve profitability in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and update integrated project control systems, including project data control matrices, document control support and tracking, regular data collection, earned value management (EVM), and performance metrics using project-focused software.
- Collect, verify, and report project data from field teams, subcontractors, and accounting systems to ensure accurate status reporting.
- Prepare regular project control reports, dashboards, and controls analyses for project managers, superintendents, and senior leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and performance trends.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards (e.g., INDOT, TXDOT); contribute to audit preparation and documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers, cost accountants, schedulers, estimators, and field personnel to align controls with project goals and promote continuous improvement in control processes.
- Participate in project reviews, lessons learned sessions, and process enhancements to strengthen overall project delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analysis, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Business Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or scheduling within heavy civil, highway, bridge, or infrastructure construction.
- Familiarity in project controls software such as Oracle Primavera P6 (preferred), Excel (advanced), Power BI and similar integration software, and familiarity with earned value management principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to safety protocols and a proactive approach to risk management in construction settings.
