FIX Connectivity Engineer

Radley James is working with a leading quantitative trading and electronic markets firm seeking a FIX Connectivity Engineer to support, enhance and expand electronic trading connectivity across their global client-facing brokerage business.
This role will focus on onboarding and maintaining FIX-based connectivity with clients, brokers, exchanges, OMS/EMS platforms, vendors and market venues across multiple asset classes. The successful candidate will work closely with trading desks, clients, infrastructure teams, developers and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable and well-controlled trading connectivity solutions.
This is a predominantly onsite position based in Philadelphia, offering the opportunity to work closely alongside traders, engineers and business stakeholders in a highly collaborative environment. The team operates with an office-first culture, with flexibility for up to two work-from-home days per month.
Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, test and support FIX connectivity for clients, counterparties, exchanges, ATSs, ECNs, brokers, OMS/EMS platforms and trading vendors
- Manage the full connectivity onboarding lifecycle, including requirements gathering, certification, production rollout and post-go-live support
- Analyse FIX message flows across order entry, executions, allocations, drop copy and administrative workflows
- Troubleshoot production issues involving order flow, routing, rejects, sequence gaps, session disconnects and trade reporting
- Maintain and enhance FIX session configurations, routing rules, account mappings and entitlement controls
- Work with developers and infrastructure teams to improve monitoring, resiliency, tooling and platform stability
- Support incident response, root-cause analysis and production issue remediation
- Participate in exchange, broker and vendor certification testing
Requirements
- 3 years of experience supporting or implementing FIX connectivity within a trading firm, broker, fintech, exchange, OMS/EMS vendor or electronic trading environment
- Strong understanding of the FIX protocol, including both session-level and application-level messaging
- Knowledge of electronic trading workflows, order lifecycle management, routing and executions
- Experience troubleshooting FIX sessions and production trading issues
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work directly with traders, clients, vendors, developers and operations teams
Preferred Experience
- SQL, scripting or reporting tools
- OMS/EMS platforms such as Bloomberg EMSX, Fidessa, FlexTrade, Charles River, Eze, Portware or similar systems
- Exchange and market connectivity, order routing and drop copy workflows
- Linux environments
- Client onboarding, certification testing and production readiness processes
