We are seeking a highly skilled Microbiologist to support a public health laboratory environment focused on antimicrobial resistance testing and surveillance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced microbiological and molecular techniques while contributing to critical public health initiatives.
🔬 Key Responsibilities:
• Perform microbiological examinations and analyses including culture, biochemical testing, PCR, sequencing, MALDI-TOF, and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS)
• Isolate and identify bacterial and yeast pathogens from clinical specimens
• Extract nucleic acids using manual and automated methods
• Evaluate, interpret, validate, and report laboratory results
• Maintain quality control and quality assurance documentation in compliance with CLIA regulations
• Conduct equipment maintenance, calibration, and inventory management
• Assist with epidemiological and statistical reporting
• Cross-train in additional laboratory disciplines as needed
✅ Required Qualifications:
• Extensive knowledge of microbiology principles, theories, and laboratory practices
• Experience with current scientific testing methods and procedures
• Proficiency using laboratory instruments, scientific equipment, and automated analytical systems
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols
• Knowledge of CLIA regulations and laboratory compliance standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to participate in proficiency testing programs and identify QA issues
• Strong analytical and report preparation skills
⭐ Highly Desired:
• Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related field
• 2 years of high-complexity laboratory testing experience
• Experience overseeing daily high-complexity testing operations
