The Mechanic II role is designed for individuals with foundational mechanical experience who are ready to take on greater responsibility for maintaining and repairing bottling and facility equipment. Working with moderate supervision, this position involves independently performing routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting common mechanical issues, and operating a variety of production equipment such as fillers, conveyors, cappers, and labelers.

Mechanic II also supports facility upkeep and improvement projects, including basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work. This role requires solid mechanical aptitude, the ability to follow technical instructions, and strong organizational skills to help maintain equipment records and inventory. As an intermediate-level team member, the Mechanic II may assist in mentoring Mechanic I staff and contribute to improving maintenance processes and plant reliability.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Installs, repairs, and modifies existing and new equipment.

  • Utilizes a variety of hand, portable and industrial power tools.

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager to ensure that the bottling lines are running efficiently.

  • Fabricates specialized equipment relative to the bottling lines.

  • P rovide assistance in the maintenance and troubleshooting of programmable logic control systems (PLC).

  • Maintains, repairs, and performs a variety of other skilled maintenance duties such as welding, plumbing, and equipment repairs.

  • Continually reviews equipment or systems that need repair and work with the Bottling Maintenance Supervisor to schedule and complete.

  • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to review work requests, identify solutions, and ensure all work is done with a high degree of workmanship.

  • Orders parts and materials within approved budgets, subject to approval of the Maintenance Manager.

  • Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance and determines the nature of problems and recommends appropriate solutions .

  • Assists in the movement of materials and equipment.

  • Ensures safe work practices and adheres to all safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to, timely and accurate reporting of all work-related injuries and illnesses to the supervisor, promoting safety awareness to co-workers, advising the supervisor of any unsafe acts and conditions, and wearing required personal protective equipment.

  • Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

The successful candidate's background includes:

  • High degree of competence in bottling systems including PLC controls, pneumatics, and mechanical systems .

  • Minimum 7 years' experience .

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and document workflow .

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills .

  • Good teamwork and organizational skills .

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and adjust to changing timelines.
