Cloud Infrastructure Systems Engineer
(Draper, UT Onsite)
JOB PURPOSE
Provide expert-level design, implementation, enhancement, engineering, and support administration for enterprise infrastructure, with a strong focus on cloud technologies, automation, and modern DevOps practices. Lead initiatives to integrate and automate systems using Azure, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and scripting languages, to ensure secure, scalable, and resilient solutions aligned with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected principles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
(Azure Cloud Architecture & Operations)
- Architect, implement, and manage enterprise-grade Azure Cloud environments, including virtual networks, resource groups, storage accounts, Azure Active Directory, managed identities, and security controls.
- Design and enforce Azure governance using policies, blueprints, and role-based access control (RBAC).
- Integrate on-premises infrastructure with Azure services for hybrid identity, networking, and workload migration.
- Optimize Azure cost management, monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Apply Microsoft Well-Architected Framework pillars for reliability, security, and performance.
(Terraform & Infrastructure as Code (IaC))
- Design, develop, and maintain Terraform modules for provisioning and managing cloud and hybrid infrastructure.
- Implement IaC best practices to automate deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of resources in Azure and other environments.
- Build reusable templates and automation pipelines for consistent, scalable infrastructure delivery.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate Terraform into CI/CD workflows.
(Automation & Scripting)
- Develop and maintain automation scripts in Python and PowerShell for system administration, monitoring, and integration tasks.
- Automate routine operations, reporting, and remediation using scripting and cloud-native tools.
(API Integration)
- Build, consume, and integrate ReST APIs for automation, monitoring, and third-party service integration.
- Enable interoperability between cloud platforms, identity providers, and enterprise applications.
(Core Infrastructure & Security)
- Provide expert-level administration for ADLDS/LDAP, Active Directory, MS Certificate Authority, and IAM integrations.
- Oversee administration and performance of Linux/Unix and Microsoft Windows systems, both on-premises and in the cloud.
- Engineer holistic certificate management systems for on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
- Design, establish, and maintain technical standards and security policies for core infrastructure and cloud environments.
(Operations & Support)
- Develop PowerShell and related scripts for system administration, backup automation, and Active Directory management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- 7 years in systems or platform engineering, including 3 years with Azure at enterprise scale.
- Deep expertise in Terraform, Bicep, and IaC best practices.
- Advanced scripting skills in Python and PowerShell.
- Experience building and integrating ReST APIs for automation and monitoring.
- Strong background in Active Directory, LDAP, IAM, and MS Certificate Authority.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and policy-as-code.
- Solid understanding of Windows Server, Linux/Unix, and hybrid identity solutions.
- Proven ability to lead infrastructure projects and mentor junior engineers.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect, Terraform Associate, Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator.
- Experience with Exchange Online, SAN, Backup Solutions, and Disaster Recovery Planning.
- Exposure to AWS Managed Directory Services and multi-cloud strategies.
- Experience managing and monitoring Kubernetes and Docker runtimes.
