- Adhere to safety procedures, including JSA Job Safety Analysis and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Comply with Federal Railroad Administration guidelines on worker safety.
- Implement lockout/tagout procedures as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues for maintenance and repairs.
- Operate equipment according to company policies and practices.
- Evaluate locomotives' safety and compliance with regulations.
- Pursue regular maintenance, including QMI inspections.
- Demonstrate expertise in diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics, and interpret technical manuals accordingly.
- Analyze issues accurately and efficiently.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, air brake issues, and replace faulty components.
- Understand schematics and utilize multi-meter AC/DC.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, and provide support to other departments when necessary.
- Travel may be required.
Physical Demands:
- Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing safely.
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching are necessary.
- Able to frequently lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30lbs.
- Able to push and pull with 100lbs of force, the force required to push/pull hand brakes.
