The Quality Control Inspector – Receiving Inspection is responsible for performing incoming inspection of purchased components, materials, and assemblies in accordance with Quality Control Instructions (QCIs), drawings, and sampling plans. The position ensures that only conforming material is released for use in production by verifying dimensional and visual characteristics using standard hand measurement tools.
The Inspector coordinates with the QC Lead – Receiving Inspection and Supplier Quality Supervisor to ensure inspection priorities are met and any non-conforming conditions are properly identified, documented, and escalated. This position plays a key role in verifying supplier quality.

Essential Duties
- Pull products awaiting inspection from designated receiving areas in accordance with established procedures.
- Inspect incoming materials, components, and assemblies following the applicable Quality Control Instruction (QCI) and sampling plan.
- Perform dimensional, visual, and attribute inspections using hand measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gages, thread gages, depth gages, etc.).
- Verify conformance of materials and supplier provided documentation to part drawings and specifications.
- Identify and clearly tag inspected products as accepted, rejected, or on hold, and record disposition in the ERP system.
- Release accepted product into inventory or production following system procedures.
- Escalate or initiate non-conformance documentation for any defects, deviations, or suspect conditions found during inspection.
- Communicate inspection results and issues to the QC Lead – Receiving Inspection or Supplier Quality Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Maintain proper organization of inspection areas and ensure product traceability throughout the inspection process.
- Support inventory control by moving material to appropriate staging, quarantine, or storage areas as directed.
- Assist in maintaining calibration verification of hand measurement devices and report damaged or out-of-tolerance equipment.
- Other duties as assigned
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Performs inspections consistently and identifies non-conforming conditions.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in use of precision hand measurement tools.
- Accountability: Ensures inspection results are accurately recorded and product is properly identified and released.
- Communication: Escalates issues promptly and communicates clearly with Leads, Supervisors, and Materials personnel.
- Teamwork: Works cooperatively with Supplier Quality, Materials, and Operations to maintain efficient material flow.
- May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases. Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions. Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.
- This position does not require any supervisory duties.
- 8-hour Day Shift Monday through Friday
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 1–2 years of quality inspection or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret basic product drawings and part specifications or ability to learn this skill
- Ability to use precision hand measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gages) or ability to learn this skill
- Computer literacy with ERP or quality data entry systems preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.
