Industrial Waste Recycling Operator - 2nd Shift

Description

The primary responsibility of the Industrial Waste Recycling Operator is to maintain various liquids recycling systems, as well as waste reclaiming and storage systems. The incumbent must be able to follow general machine shop practices while working under minimal supervision. Responsibilities cited below are considered essential for job functions.

Essential Duties

  • Adhere to stablished safety procedures and 5 “S” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts.
  • Set controls on control panel and activate systems: Drain and clean all the system.
  • Inspect control panels and maintain accurate written records of all data observed as required. Verbally report observations to supervisor.
  • Replace returns lines, pumps, valves, filters, float, switches and other equipment as necessary.
  • Inspect all equipment and systems for leaks. Report findings to supervisor and repair leaking containers if possible.
  • Analyze fluid, mixes and fluid levels in accordance to verbal and written instructions, make any required adjustment and notify supervisor of observations.
  • Remove waste products and transfer fluids to storage facilities for further use and/or processing.
  • Analyze wastewater samples as directed by supervisor and prepare written monthly report of the results.
  • Prepare and analyze samples of various fluids as directed by supervisor.
  • Monitor parts inventory and maintain accurate written records.
  • Ability to handle complex tasks to resolution

  • Prepare and send coolant samples to concentrate manufacturing lab for analysis.
  • Monitor parts inventory and maintain accurate written records.
  • Remove trash and perform general housekeeping.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise, and hazards such as electrical shock or gases. Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions. Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Schedule

  • 10-hour Evening Shift Monday through Thursday

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Trade school preferred.
  • Ability to handle complex tasks to resolution.
  • Communication skills, ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions.
  • Knowledge of Shop math.
  • Problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in production/manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of waste treatment techniques, chemicals and physical reactions.
  • Valid Driver’s license and ability to drive vehicles such as a pick-up truck and forklift.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend and lift from the floor, walk, reach frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed, both daily and weekends.
  • Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
