Quest Group is Actively recruiting for a (Retail Property) Development Manager
The Development Manager is responsible for leading all phases of the development lifecycle for multifamily and mixed-use projects—from site identification and feasibility through design, entitlements, construction, lease-up, and stabilization. This role requires a strategic and detail-oriented professional with strong financial acumen, deep understanding of real estate development processes, and the ability to coordinate diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
The Development Manager ensures that projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with the company’s investment objectives and quality standards.
- Project Management:
- Lead development projects from acquisition through design, entitlement, construction, and delivery.
- Retail Strategy Integration:
- Leverage retail industry experience to inform site planning, tenant mix, merchandising strategy, and customer experience.
- Site Selection & Feasibility:
- Evaluate potential development sites with a focus on demographics, trade areas, traffic patterns, and retail viability.
- Leasing & Tenant Coordination:
- Collaborate with leasing teams to attract and secure retail tenants; understand tenant requirements and integrate them into design and execution.
- Design & Construction Oversight:
- Manage architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with brand/retail objectives.
- Entitlements & Approvals:
- Navigate zoning, permitting, and municipal approvals; maintain relationships with local agencies and stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with acquisitions, asset management, leasing, and finance teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Market & Trend Analysis:
- Stay informed on retail trends (e-commerce impact, experiential retail, omnichannel strategies) and incorporate insights into development plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Urban Planning, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- 4–8 years of experience in real estate development, with exposure to retail projects.
- Prior experience in the retail industry strongly preferred.
