Position Overview
Quest Group is actively recruiting for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our clients accounting operations within a fast-paced General Contractor (GC) environment. This role oversees the full-cycle accounting function, ensures accurate financial reporting, manages project-based accounting workflows, and supports leadership with strategic financial insights. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of construction accounting practices, job cost tracking, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP/AR, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
Construction-Specific Accounting
- Oversee job costing, WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules, and revenue recognition for construction projects.
- Track project budgets, cost codes, change orders, subcontractor payments, and lien releases.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate and timely recording of project expenses.
- Monitor contract compliance, retainage, and billing requirements.
Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales/use tax and labor reporting.
- Coordinate with external auditors, bonding companies, and financial institutions.
- Maintain documentation for insurance, bonding, and licensing requirements.
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff and support professional development.
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes, strengthening efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist senior leadership with financial analysis, KPI tracking, and strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5 years of accounting experience, ideally within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting principles (job costing, WIP, retainage).
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
Preferred
- CPA, CMA, or similar certification.
- Experience with project management workflows and ERP system integrations.
- Knowledge of union reporting (if applicable), certified payroll, and AIA billing.
Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
