The Opportunity
As Senior Global Controller, you will lead a complex, 23‑entity international structure and own critical close responsibilities, including intercompany accounting, eliminations, and consolidated reporting. You will also play an active role in purchase accounting and acquisition integration initiatives, while strengthening the backbone of our global close and reporting function within a PE‑backed, performance‑driven environment.
This is a hands-on, impact driven role and not a transactional accounting position. The ideal candidate is a proven operator who can drive issues to resolution, elevate close discipline, and contribute to building a scalable, best-in-class accounting function as the business continues to grow.
Responsibilities
Global Accounting & Compliance
- Lead the global close process across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
- Ensure GAAP compliance and statutory reporting accuracy.
- Manage external audits and internal control frameworks.
Financial Reporting & Systems
- Oversee consolidated reporting and dashboarding.
- Partner with IT/FP&A on ERP and reporting enhancements.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cost Control
- Collaborate with FP&A on forecasts and scenario planning.
- Monitor margins, inventory valuation, and project costs.
- Develop and manage the team budget and resource plan, actively partnering with site leaders to identify cost-saving measures and support continuous improvement across the organization.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor global finance staff.
- Support M&A due diligence and integration.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team while managing recruiting, interviewing, and hiring
- responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Ten years of progressive accounting experience
- ERP experience (Infor, NetSuite / SAP / Oracle / Dynamics or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPA eligible
- Experience with foreign currency accounting and international consolidations in a multi-entity environment
- Familiarity with manufacturing or R&D-intensive businesses.
- Exposure to international tax and compliance
- Experience in PE-backed or high growth environment
- Close tools (BlackLine / FloQast) or similar
- Experience in scientific instruments, biotech, or med-tech
- Familiarity with R&D capitalization and grant finance
- Finance transformation or FP&A leadership
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivots, lookups, and complex formulas
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is fully onsite with some travel required throughout Quantum Design territory. The employee will report to Quantum Design headquarters in San Diego, CA.
- Salary Range: $173,000 - $249,000
